Parts of Cagayan, Oriental Mindoro flooded; 3 dead in Mindoro landslide


Heavy rains from the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and tail-end of a cold front caused flooding in some areas in Cagayan and Oriental Mindoro. Meanwhile, three died in landslides in Oriental Mindoro, according to a report on 24 Oras News Alert on Saturday.

In Cagayan, low-lying areas in the municipality of Allacapan were flooded due to rains from the Amihan.

The Allacapan-Ali Provincial Road at Capanickian Sur-Mapurao Road got flooded as well.

In Oriental Mindoro, 11 barangays in the municipality of Naujan were flooded due to the tail-end of a cold front.

Residents living near the river channel and landslide-prone areas were evacuated.

Meanwhile, three people died in landslides in Naujan and Socorro in Oriental Mindoro.

One of them was a three-year-old child, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

PAGASA said localized thunderstorms may bring heavy rains. —KG, GMA News
