Magat Dam releases water due to Vicky


The Magat Dam released water on Saturday after its water level rose due to the continuous rain brought by Tropical Depression Vicky.

According to a report on “24 Oras Weekend,” PAGASA-Tuguegarao and the Isabela Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council said that the dam's four gates were opened.

The dam’s water level rose to 191.86 meters by 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, close to the 193-meter spilling level.

Meanwhile, the National Irrigation Administration warned that the following areas in Isabela may be affected due to the release:

  • Ramon
  • San Mateo
  • Aurora
  • Cabatuan
  • Luna
  • Reina Mercedes
  • Burgos
  • Naguilian
  • Gamu

 

PAGASA hydrologist Edgar Dela Cruz said that other dams, such as the Angat Dam, may also release water as their water levels rose. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
