P13.6-M worth of shabu seized in Tarlac; Nigerian killed in ops

Police authorities on Thursday seized P13.6 million worth of shabu during a buy-bust operation at a videoke bar in Barangay Jefmin, Concepcion, Tarlac.

According to the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), the operation led to a shootout, which resulted in the death of Nigerian Gabriel Onyechefula.

Authorities also retrieved a caliber 9mm machine pistol with ammunition, two pieces of genuine P1,000 bill, and 14 bundles of boodle money.

PRO3 director Police Brigadier General Valeriano de Leon said Onyechefula was a member of the West African Syndicate that is responsible for the proliferation of shabu and cocaine in the country.

He also claimed that the syndicate lures Filipinos to become drug mules.

“Thru our revitalized drug campaign in line with the directives of PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas, all police units are working closely together to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs not just in the region but the entire country,” De Leon said in a statement.

“[A]nd we appeal to everyone to continue helping us in our campaign against illegal drugs in order to make our country drug-free,” he added.—AOL, GMA News
