Cebu ambulance driver nabbed with P2.2-M in shabu

Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG) operatives on Friday arrested an ambulance driver with alleged links to detained drug suspect Wesley Chua during a buy-bust operation in Talisay City, Cebu.

According to the PNP, 43-year-old Rodney Delfino used his job as a Barangay Poblacion ambulance driver to evade detection of his illegal drug activities.

Delfino, with Edgar Quiachon and Jamel Tabasa, were arrested at 6 p.m. by operatives of PNP-DEG Special Operations Unit 6.

The narcotics officers also seized P2.2 million worth of shabu during the operation.

Citing reports from PNP-DEG, PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas said Delfino was one of Chua’s “bodagero.”

Sinas said Chua is believed to be still operating his drug network through Delfino who allegedly operated in areas of Metro-Cebu and nearby areas of Naga, Minglanilla, and San Fernando.

Meanwhile, the PNP chief said the profits Delfino earned through his drug activities were remitted through an account with a commercial bank.

Chua was arrested in February 2020 with P10.4 million worth of shabu. He has since been detained at the Cebu City Jail. — DVM, GMA News
