Public novena Masses at Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño cancelled


The Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño de Cebu has cancelled all novena Masses starting Tuesday until the Feast of the Child Jesus on January 17 due to the increasing number of churchgoers.

According to a report on Balitanghali on Wednesday, devotees have flocked to the basilica amid the COVID-19 pandemic which forced authorities to cancel Masses.

Earlier, the local government of Cebu City has cancelled all physical activities and shows for Sinulog Festival due to the threat of COVID-19.

Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama said among the activities cancelled are the ritual showdown and street dancing for the Sinulog 2021, following the request of Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella and suggestions from city government officials.

However, the activities will still push through online.
