3 soldiers, 1 civilian shot dead in Lanao del Norte

Three soldiers and one civilian on Thursday were killed by unidentified gunmen in Lanao del Norte, according to the Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom).

In a statement, WestMinCom commander Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan Jr. said the shooting incident occurred at around 8:45 a.m involving troops from the 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion.

“Based on the report, our troops... received an information from a civilian informant regarding a shooting incident in the boundary of Poona Piagapo and Pantao Ragat, Lanao del Norte,” Vinluan said.

Upon arrival at the area, the WestMinCom commander said the responding team found 4 dead bodies with gunshot wounds.

Lieutenant Colonel Domingo Dulay, the commander of the battalion, said the three victims were going to the market onboard motorcycles when they were attacked.
