Tuguegarao City mayor tests positive for COVID-19

The mayor of Tuguegarao City has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the city’s information office announced Friday.

In a Facebook post, the Tuguegarao City Information Office said Mayor Jefferson Soriano, a retired police general, was infected with the disease.

“Nais po namin ipaalam sa publiko na ang ating Ama ng siyudad na si Mayor Jefferson Soriano ay nag-positibo sa COVID19 ngayong araw,” it said.

The city information office, however, did not said how Soriano was infected or when he got tested for the virus.

Further, it advised those who had close contact with the mayor to inform the local government by texting or calling the following numbers:

“Muling pinapaalalahan ang lahat na mag doble ingat at sumunod sa mga minimum health standards at iwasan ang paglabas sa pampublikong lugar,” it added. -MDM, GMA News
