99 marijuana bricks, marijuana oil worth P12M seized from alleged narco-politician

Ninety-nine marijuana bricks and a bottle of marijuana oil with a value of almost P12 million were confiscated by authorities from an alleged narco-politician in Tadian, Mountain Province.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) personnel identified the suspect as Rexton Bangang, according to a Balitanghali report by James Agustin on Tuesday.

The PDEA said the suspect might have used the drug money to secure a position in the government.

Bangang ran for councilor in the 2019 local elections but lost.

PDEA conducted a three-month surveillance on Bangang, who was also an alleged supplier of a syndicate.

"Ito ay dinala at ibiniyahe ng isang masasabi natin na malaking tao doon sa Tadian, Mountain Province," said PDEA-Cordillera Director Gil Castro.

Bangang did not issue a statement.

Meanwhile, almost P8 million worth of marijuana were destroyed by authorities in Tinglayan, Kalinga. No suspect was arrested.

In Macrohon, Southern Leyte, an alleged drug suspect was killed after a shootout with the police.

He was identified as Rene Mori, who fired a gun upon learning that he was transacting with authorities. The police retaliated, killing the suspect in the process.
