DepEd Isabela suspends module distribution, face-to-face activities amid COVID-19 surge


The Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Isabela has suspended distribution and retrieval of school modules and other physical activities following the spike in the number of coronavirus disease infections.

"In line with the increasing number of cases of COVID-19, the Schools Division Office announces to the field that the distribution and retrieval of Self-Learning Modules (SLMs) and other face-to-face activities for learners shall be suspended in critical areas where there are cases of COVID-19 positive," the department said in a memorandum dated April 4.

 


It likewise advised school heads to craft "mechanism to effectively manage safe distribution and retrieval of SLMs while suspension is ongoing.

Teachers in the school division will push through with their lectures through an online platform, as stated in the memorandum.

"As a preventive measure to control the spread of the virus and to ensure that IATF (Inter Agency Task Force) safety protocols are strictly observed, all School Heads are directed to inform their teachers to continue their monitoring and follow-ups to their learners via online platform," read the memorandum.

The number of COVID-19 cases in DepEd Isabela was not mentioned in the memorandum, but as of Monday, the province reported 1,370 active cases of COVID-19, 6,671 recoveries, and 159 deaths.

Total confirmed positive cases of 107 are those with CV tags only and still do not include those without CV tags as of reporting time. -From RESU #WeRecoverAsOne #WeHealAsOne
