11 Cebu areas under MECQ with heightened restrictions

Eleven areas in Cebu province were placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) with heightened restrictions  due to the growing cases of COVID-19.

According to GMA Radyo Cebu reporter Norman Mendoza dzBB report, three cities and eight towns will be under MECQ with heightened restrictions starting August 11, midnight.

The affected are cities of Talisay, Naga, and Carcar, and municipalities of Consolacion, Liloan, Minglanilla, Sibonga, Argao, Samboan, Oslob, and Cordova.

These towns were previously under MECQ but due to fresh cases soaring to 200, Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia issued an executive order to make lockdown restrictions tougher.

The order, posted on Garcia's official Facebook page, indicated that aside from health protocols, high efficiency particulate air filters and ionizers must be installed in an office.

Establishments or offices must also be regularly cleaned with ultraviolet germicidal light.

Movement is likewise restricted as residents are only allowed to access goods and services from permitted establishments, and for work.

Mass transport is allowed but public utility vehicles that cannot fully open their windows must install air purifiers.

Those under 15 years old and above 65 years old are not allowed to leave their homes except for obtaining essential goods and services, for work in industries. In addition, pregnant women and those with health risks are also not allowed for non-essential travel.
