State forces nab terrorist group sub-leader in Maguindanao


Security forcers nabbed a sub-leader of the Daulah Islamiyah-Maguid Group of terrorists  in Maguindanao on August 11, 2021, the military said.

“Kalid Andalani Kalaing, a.k.a. Kumander Kalid was arrested by combined elements of the 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion, Shariff Aguak Municipal Police Station, and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company during a checkpoint operation in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday,” Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr. Commander of Western Mindanao Command said in a statement.

According to Col. Pedro Balisi, Commander of 1st Mechanized Infantry Brigade, at the time of his arrest, Kalaing was heading to Isulan, Sultan Kudarat from Cotabato on a white Toyota pick-up.

He was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest docketed under Criminal Case No. 19-5041 for carnapping with homicide issued on June 13, 2019, by Presiding Judge Lorenzo Balo of Branch 19-Isulan.

Kalaing is now under the custody of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, Maguindanao Provincial Police Office for the filing of appropriate charges.

“With all the positive results of our combined operations, Joint Task Force Central will continue to assist our partners from the police and other law enforcement agencies to deter unlawful activities in our area of operation,” said Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, Commander of JTF Central.

Patrol bases were alerted for possible retaliation of Kalaing’s cohorts.

“My congratulations to the troops of JTF Central,” said Vinluan.

“May your multifarious achievements be an inspiration to all as we bolster our serious efforts to defeat the terrorists and lawless elements here in Mindanao,” he added. 

Since January 2021, a total of 26 Daulah Islamiyah personalities were neutralized in central Mindanao, of whom four were apprehended, one surrendered, and 21 were killed. —LBG, GMA News
