LTO revokes Zamboanga motorcycle riders’ licenses for drag racing

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has revoked the license of three motorcycle riders involved in drag racing in Zamboanga City.

According to Emil Sumangil’s report on “24 Oras,” a video that went viral on social media showed a race between two motorcycles along the national highway in the city.

The video was being taken by a vlogger who was tailing the two motorcycles.

The motorcycles ended up colliding, though no one died in the incident.

On September 8, the two drivers and the vlogger answered the show-cause order released by the LTO. Their licenses were suspended.

A few weeks later, LTO Regional Director Amino Abatan confirmed to GMA News that they have revoked the licenses of the three riders.

In the report, the riders also admitted that what they did was wrong and urged others to not follow suit.

“Mali ‘yung ginawa namin doon sa video. Don’t copy what we did. Use this as an example sa ibang riders. Let this be a lesson to everyone. Nakita niyo anong nangyari, nakita niyo mga consequences,” Anton Loon said.

“From now on, I will be promoting road safety,” he added. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
