Sara, Baste to seek reelection in Eleksyon 2022 —spox

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and her brother, Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte, will both seek reelection in next year's elections, the mayor's spokesperson confirmed on Thursday.

"Yes, this is confirmed. According to Mayor Sara, she will run for reelection as Davao City Mayor and incumbent Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte will run for reelection," Liloan Mayor Christina Frasco said in a message to GMA News Online.

Sara, who had topped presidential surveys, had said she would not seek a national post in the 2022 elections as her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, accepted the nomination of the ruling PDP-Laban party to run for vice president in 2022.

Sara earlier said they have agreed that only one from the Duterte family should run in the national polls. Last week, she said that she would not support the potential tandem of Senator Bong Go and her father. On Wednesday, however, she said she was backing her father's run next year.

Go, meanwhile, has declined the PDP-Laban's nomination to run for president.  — BM, GMA News
