BOC destroys 6 fake cigarette-making machines in Pampanga

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) recently destroyed six machines that fabricate fake cigarettes.

In a statement on Wednesday, the BOC said the machines were destroyed at Greenleaf 88 Waste Disposal and Management Facility in Barangay Mitla, Porac, Pampanga on October 13.

Also destroyed were eight rolls of foil wrap, one roll of tipping paper, 15 rolls of white paper, 400 rolls of plastic wrap, 10 rolls of Philip Morris Philippines Manufacturing Inc. tape, and seven rolls of Mighty tape.

The BOC said the illicit items were seized on September 2, 2020 following an order issued by Aparri district collector Arienito Claveria.

The agency said the seizure order was issued for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to Articles IV and V of the Amended Rules and Regulations Governing the Exportation and Importation of Leaf Tobacco and Tobacco Products. — Richa Noriega/VBL, GMA News
