P75 legislated wage hike isusulong sa Kamara

MANILA – Sa kabila ng inaprubahang P22 dagdag sa minimum wage, inihayag ng isang mambabatas na isusulong nito sa papasok na 15th Congress ang panukalang batas na magpapatupad ng P75 across-the-board wage increase. Ayon kay Party-list Rep. Raymond Mendoza ng Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP), hindi sapat ang inaprubahang P22 minimum wage hike ng National Wage Board sa mga manggagawa sa Metro Manila kung ibabatay sa mataas na halaga ng pamumuhay ngayon sa bansa. “The P22 wage hike is an insult to workers who made the sustained development of the regional economy in the last nine years. The amount is too low and cannot even cover for the increases of essential goods and services," ayon sa mambabatas. Bilang kinatawan ng mamamayan, sinabi ni Mendoza na dapat kumilos ang mga mambabatas para mapagkalooban ng disenteng sahod ang mga manggagawa. Hindi ito ang unang pagkakataon na isinulong sa Kamara de Representantes ang panukalang batas na magpapatupad ng dagdag na sahod sa mga manggagawa. Nakamatayan na ni dating AnakPawis Rep Crispin Beltran ang P125 across the board legislated wage increase bill na ilan beses niyang inihain sa Kamara ngunit hindi naipasa ng Kongreso. Bukod sa dagdag na sahod, sinabi ni Mendoza na maghahain siya ng panukala para suriin ang basehan ng National Wages and Productivity Commission na nagtatakda kung magkano ang sahod na dapat ibigay sa mga manggagawa. “Our workers are the ones who created the stupendous wealth worth more than three trillion pesos since 2001, which were declared as corporate profits and shareholders’ dividends. Don’t workers have the right to have a reasonable share from the fruits of their labor?" ayon kay Mendoza. “Now is the time to reassert the rights of workers to decent work and living wages. We will fully utilize our representation in Congress to correct the injustices being done to our working people," idinagdag niya. 'Baryang' oil price rollback binatikos Samantala, kinastigo naman nina Cibac party-list Rep. Joel Villanueva at Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares, ang 25 hanggang 50 sentimos na rollback per liter na ipinatupad ng mga oil company sa presyo ng mga produktong petrolyo. Ayon kay Villanueva, hindi patas ang ginawang barya na rollback ng mga oil company dahil P1 hanggang P2 per liter ang ipinapatong nila kapag nagtataas ng presyo sa kanilang produkto. “Are they trying to fool the people? They should show a little generosity because the people were very material in building their business and grew like giants," banat ng kongresista. Inakusahan naman ni Colmenares na patuloy umano ang pagsasabwatan at pagsasamantala ng mga oil company sa mga motorista. “Why they (oil firms) have uniformed big price increase and small amount of rollback on their petroleum products? Isn’t that enough proof of overpricing, cartelization and profiteering at the detriment of the people?" tanong ni Colmenares. - GMANews.TV
