Youth groups seek justice for victims of Yolanda, failures of Aquino, Duterte

Those victimized in Super Typhoon Yolanda’s deadly onslaught in 2013 have now also become “victims” of what youth groups believe are failed efforts of both the Duterte and Aquino administrations.

To sympathize with the families of thousands who were killed in the typhoon’s wake, a few victims joined the student groups in lighting candles at the steps of the Palma Hall of the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman on Thursday.

The demonstration followed by a candle lighting ceremony was organized by the groups PMCJ, KAISA, BULIG, PILIPINAS, and the CYSP.

The demonstration and candle lighting ceremony was organized by the groups KAISA-UP, Philippine Movement for Climate Justice (PMCJ), Bulig Pilipinas, and the Community of Yolanda Survivors and Partners (CYSP).

They slammed the “slow” rehabilitation efforts for Yolanda victims under the adminstration of both President Rodrigo Duterte and  Former President Benigno Aquino III.

They also blasted the government for supposedly letting the activities of large corporations and industries take a devastating toll on the climate.

— MDM/NB, GMA News
