Worldwide coronavirus cases reach 39.9M, death toll at 1,111,364 —Reuters tally

More than 39.9 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,111,364 have died, according to a Reuters tally.
   
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

The US leads with 8,134,334 cases and 219,355 deaths.

It was followed by:

• India: 7,494,551 cases and 114,031 deaths
• Brazil: 5,224,362 cases and 153,675 deaths
• Russia: 1,399,334 cases and 24,187 deaths
• Argentina: 979,119 cases and 26,107 deaths

The Philippines is 20th on the list with 356,618 cases and 6,652 deaths. —Reuters
