Worldwide coronavirus cases cross 49.55M, death toll at 1,245,761 —Reuters tally

More than 49.55 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,245,761 have died, according to a Reuters tally.
   
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

The US leads with 9,779,890 cases and 236,250 deaths.

It was followed by:

• India: 8,462,080 cases and 125,562 deaths
• Brazil: 5,631,181 cases and 162,015 deaths
• Russia: 1,753,836 cases and 30,251 deaths
• France: 1,661,853 cases and 39,865 deaths

The Philippines is 25th on the list with 393,961 cases and 7,485 deaths. —Reuters
