Worldwide coronavirus cases cross 61.21M, death toll at 1,438,281 —Reuters tally

More than 61.21 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,438,281 have died, according to a Reuters tally.
   
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

The US leads with 12,875,317 cases and 263,390 deaths.

It was followed by:

• India: 9,309,787 cases and 135,715 deaths
• Brazil: 6,204,220 cases and 171,460 deaths
• Russia: 2,215,533 cases and 38,558 deaths
• France: 2,196,119 cases and 51,914 deaths

The Philippines is 27th on the list with 425,918 cases and 8,255 deaths. —Reuters
