Worldwide coronavirus cases cross 81.46M, death toll at 1,779,597 —Reuters tally

More than 81.46 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,779,597 have died, according to a Reuters tally.
   
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

The US leads with 19,262,073 cases and 334,933 deaths.

It was followed by:

• India: 10,224,303 cases and 148,153 deaths
• Brazil: 7,504,833 cases and 191,570 deaths
• Russia: 3,105,037 cases and 55,827 deaths
• France: 2,574,041 cases and 64,078 deaths

The Philippines is 29th on the list with 471,526 cases and 9,162 deaths. —Reuters
