Have you noticed that people have been sharing a lot of photos online? This week, the 2012 Catholic Mass Media Award (CMMA) Winner for Best Adult Educational/Cultural Program “Ang Pinaka” listed down the top 10 Ang Pinaka: Sikat na Photo Fads that have taken the internet world by storm.
10. Forced perspective

Forced perspective is a photographic illusion where an object appears either farther away, closer, larger, or smaller than it actually is. This photo fad is popular in vacation photography where tourists pretend to hold up famous landmarks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower, and the pyramids of Egypt.
9. Duck face

Duck face is achieved by pressing one’s lip together to form the shape of a duck’s bill. This photo fad hit mainstream popularity in 2005 in the social networking site Myspace.
8. Jump shot

A jump shot is achieved by jumping in the air and having someone take a photo of you looking all happy and gracefully frozen in mid-air.
7. Look up

A ‘look up’ photo is done when people look up to the sky or at nothing at all for the shot. In the Philippines, this photo fad was popularized by child star Ryzza Mae Dizon.
To maximize the look up effect, grab your friends because this photo fad works best in a group shot.
6. Emo

Emo shots are achieved when a person pretends to be in deep-thought or looks far away with a dramatic landscape as the background. For a full emo effect, “Ang Pinaka” recommends putting love quotes or captions to emphasize the intense emotion in your emo photo.
5. #OOTD (Outfit of the day)

OOTD or ‘Outfit of the day’ is a commonly used hashtag in fashion blogs and other social networking sites such as Twitter and Instagram, where people post their photos to show the online world what they are wearing or have worn.

3. #TBT (Throwback Thursday)

Every Thursday, the hashtag #TBT appears on your timelines. People post and share old pictures from a not-so-distant past. This photo fad became so popular that it spurned offshoot hashtags such as #WaybackWednesdays and #FlashbackFridays.

A mirror shot is a photo of oneself, usually in front of the bathroom mirror. Some people, however, are more creative with their mirror shots, utilizing their car side mirror, elevator wall, their friend’s shades, or even a clear pond should nature permit.

A selfie is a photo in which the photographer is also the subject of his or her photograph. With the easier access to smartphones, people can now take selfies anytime, anywhere, and share it online in just a few clicks.
