Waah! A year of flabber-gasms for Sen. Meeryam Defensive Defender
It’s been quite a year for Senator Meeryam Defensive Defender (played by comedian Jon Santos). With all the controversial issues in the news over the past 12 months, the feisty senator has hardly had time to breathe between her headline-worthy tirades. It’s positively enough to make anybody scream: “WAAH!” Which the senator famously did, during the Corona impeachment trial earlier this year. “It’s an expression of flabber-gasm! It depends on the extent of being flabbergasted,” she explained. In an jolly interview with Prof. Winnie Monsod on “Bawal ang Pasaway” that aired last Christmas Eve, the Meeryam talks about some of the issues that flabbergasted her this 2012.
On the Corona impeachment trial According to the senator, we should all grow up and move on from the past: “Past is past, including [Neil] Tu-past!”
On “Safe and Satisfying” sex Sen. Defensive Defender wasn’t happy with Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile’s attempt to remove the term “satisfying” from the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill: “Sinabi niya sa akin na ‘Gusto ko, happy ka.’ Eh, paano ako magiging happy kung hindi fulfilling ang sex life?!”
On the West Philippine Sea dispute Sen. Defensive Defender believes she has the perfect solution to the dispute between China and the Philippines: “Why not, once and for all, ipamigay na lang ang island na ‘yan! I already have a replacement to Scarborough Island—Splash Island!”
On political dynasties On political dynasties, Sen. Meeryam says: “I have yet to figure out if it’s really such a bad idea, because it’s really very good for recycling. You recycle the tarpaulins, and in fact, you can can recycle the promises. Hindi naman na-fulfill yung promise, i-fulfill nalang nung anak.”
Her Christmas messages Sen. Defensive Defender also shared her Christmas message for Ret. Justice Serafin Cuevas: “May your days be merry and white: and may your all your coat and ties be all white!”
But she ended with a very special Christmas message for “Bawal ang Pasaway” host Winnie Monsod: “Mapunta sayo ang lahat, huwag lang ang mga pasaway.”
