Aphrodisiac food recipes to keep the love month burning


They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. But there are so-called “food for romance” that seem to go straight to one’s heart. 
 
Some substances in food ingredients, called aphrodisiacs, are believed to fire up passion and stimulate desire when consumed. Some food are considered aphrodisiacs because of its shape, texture or compounds that may increase the sexual drive of a person, or because it’s believed to improve sexual performance. 
 
Valentine’s Day may be over, but “Good News” presents these aphrodisiac food recipes to keep the fire burning this entire love month. 
 
Appetizer: Chili and Cheese Spirals


 
     
 
     Ingredients:
 
     Cream cheese
     Cheddar cheese
     Red bell pepper, minced
     Green bell pepper, minced
     Tortilla wrap
     Chili



Directions:

To make the filling, mix the cream cheese and cheddar cheese in a blender or food processor. Add in the bell peppers and chili for spice.
 
Spread the cheese mixture over each tortilla wrap and roll up. Wrap each roll in transparent plastic wrap, twisting ends to close. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Remove the plastic wrap and cut each roll to pieces. 
 
Serve with salsa for dipping.
 
Cost: Php 50/ 2 to 3 persons
 
 
Soup: Tahong and Sotanghon Soup



     Ingredients:
 
     Sotanghon or glass noodles
     Garlic, minced
     Onion, sliced
     Ginger, sliced
     Soy sauce
     Cabbage, chopped
     Bell pepper, sliced
     Tahong or mussels


Directions: 
 
Soak the sotanghon or glass noodles in water for 20 minutes.
 
In a frying pan, saute the ginger until golden brown. Add the onions and garlic and saute for a minute. Put in the mussels. Add soy sauce and water for extra flavor. Simmer until the mussels are cooked. 
 
Add the noodles, cabbage and bell pepper. Serve.
 
Cost: Php 60/ 2 to 3 persons
 
Main course: Nut-crusted Tilapia


 
     
     Ingredients:
 
     Tilapia
     Egg
     Flour
     Calamansi juice
                                                          Parsley, diced
                                                                      Butter
                                                                                  Nuts
Directions:
 
Season the tilapia generously with salt and pepper. To remove the smell of the fish, add calamansi juice. In a bowl, mix parsley with the nuts. 
 
Dip fish in flour, egg, then coat it with the parsley and nuts. Fry until golden brown. Serve.
 
Cost: Php 90/ 2 to 3 persons
 
Dessert: Chocolate Banana S’mores


 
     Ingredients:
 
     Crushed graham
     Marshmallows
     Bananas, sliced
     Chocolate syrup
     Butter








Directions:

Melt butter in a pan, then add in the graham. Mix well.

In a separate container, assemble the bananas. Add  in the graham and butter mixture. Top it off with chocolate syrup and marshmallows. Serve.
