Daniel investigates Dan’s body to see what sets this man apart.
In a quest to help reduce the 20,000 deaths that are caused by snakebite annually throughout the world, Tim Friede has made himself into a human guinea pig by allowing some of the world’s deadliest snakes to bite him and recording the results. Working at a python farm in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, he regularly injects snake venom directly into his blood. He even claims to be able to survive the deadly bite of the black mamba, one of the most venomous snakes in the world.
Garry Turner was discovered to have the extraordinary ability of being able to stretch his skin when he was just four years old. His uncle was so impressed that he used to show him off to his friends and it gained Garry the title of ‘Rubber Band Man’. In Victorian times, he would have been put in a freak show, but today, we have a much better understanding of why people like Garry are different. He has a rare genetic mutation known as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which alters the way collagen is structured in his body. This can affect people in many different ways, but in Garry, it has given him the stretchiest skin on the planet.
Yves Rossey claims to have realized everybody’s dream of flying. Using a wing strapped to his body, he claims he can fly by steering, using tiny adjustments of his body. The thing that sets him apart is that he doesn’t just glide, his body IS the fuselage, and he is able to fly upwards, and in formation with other aircraft. Stan Lee sends Daniel to Switzerland to investigate how Yves is able to fly in such a skillful way, where even the tiniest error would result in disaster.
Dubbed in Filipino, this episode of “Stan Lee’s Superhumans” airs this Friday, August 30, at 8PM on GMA News TV Channel 11.
