Negros specialties, ihahain sa 'Pinas Sarap'

Ngayong Huwebes, makiki-fiesta tayo sa Negros mga Kapuso! Sa Part 1 ng ating Negros Foodtrip, samahan si Kara David na makisaya sa isa sa pinakamakulay at pinakamagarbong fiesta sa Pilipinas, ang MassKara Festival!

Tuwing Oktubre, dinarayo ng mga turista ang “City of Smiles,” ang Bacolod City! Napupuno kasi ang mga kalsada ng musika at makukulay at masasayang maskara para sa taunang selebrasyon ng MassKara Festival. Ito rin ang paraan nila para magpasalamat sa masaganang ani ng tubo na ginagawa nilang asukal.

Paggawa ng asukal ang pangunahing industriya sa Negros. Sa katunayan, tinaguriang “Sugar Bowl of the Philippines” ang Negros Island dahil dito galing ang 65% ng asukal sa Pilipinas. Bibisitahin ni Kara ang oldest sugar mill sa Negros para alamin kung paano ginagawa ang asukal.

Bukod sa MassKara Festival, siguradong mapapangiti ang sinumang bumisita sa Negros sa matatamis nilang pagkain. Titikman natin ang pinagmamalaki nilang matatamis, ang piaya, pinasugbo, biscocho at napoleones!

The streets are filled with music and colorful parade. This is their way of giving thanks to a prosperous harvest of sugarcane that is used in sugar production.
Sugar production is the primary industry in Negros. In fact, Negros Island is known as the ‘Sugar Bowl of the Philippines”, in fact 65% of the sugar in the country is from Negros. Kara visits the oldest sugar mill in Negros to learn how it is produced.
Aside from MassKara Festival, tourist shouldn’t miss trying out their sweets. Must-try out are their popular piaya, pinasugbo, biscocho and napoleones.
