Reel Time to participate in Al Jazeera International Docu Film Festival

The year 2013 has so far been filled international milestones for Reel Time.
The episode “Batang Aquarium (Aquarium Kids)” from GMA News TV’s documentary program Reel Time was chosen as an Official Selection for Competition in the Medium Films Category of the 9th Al Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival, which will be held in Doha, Qatar on April 18 to 22, 2013.
Eleazar Del Rosario, Executive Producer and Director of the documentary, was officially invited to attend the festival.
“Aquarium Kids” tells the story of 10-year-old Harris and 12-year-old Dodie, who make a living by catching fish for aquariums. Every day, the two children wake up early in the morning to catch small fish in the shallow part of the sea. Late at night, they dive into the open sea with only small flashlights to guide them through the dark waters.
Thirty-three countries have submitted entires and will be participating in the final competition of the 9th edition of the Al Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival. Out of over 1,300 submissions, 205 documentaries were selected to participate in the final competition in the festival. “Aquarium Kids” was among the chosen finalists and will be the Philippines’ official entry to the festival.
The documentary “Aquarium Kids” was also among the Official Selection in the 6th Dawn Breakers International Film Festival held in Einsideln, Switzerland last December 2012.
“Aquarium Kids” will be screened at the Salwa 1 Hall of Doha Sheraton Hotel on April 19, 2013 at 9:00 am.
Reel Time’s participation in the 9th Al Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival is another international milestone for Reel Time this 2013 after winning the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award and receiving a Silver World Medal in the 2013 New York Festivals for its episode “Salat.”
