Orihinal na Ilokano recipe ng dinengdeng ni Gabriela Silang


Kilalang lutuing gulay ng mga Ilokano ang dinengdeng, at niluto raw ito noon ng Ilokanang bayani na si Gabriela Silang. 
 
Ayon sa mga kwento, noo'y magdadala sana si Gabriela ng dinengdeng sa kanyang kaibigang may sakit nang makasalubong niya ang isang matandang giniginaw. Dahil sa kabaitan, ibinigay ni Gabriela sa matanda ang kanyang balabal, pati na ang mainit-init niyang bagong luto na dinengdeng. 
 
Ito ang recipe ng orihinal na dinengdeng na iniluluto raw noon ni Gabriela Silang. 
 
Original Dinengdeng
 
Ingredients:
  • Sweet potatoes  
  • Bagoong  
  • Eggplant  
  • Saluyot leaves  
  • Katuray flowers  
  • Malunggay leaves  
  • Ampalaya leaves  
  • Shellfish o halaan
Procedure:
 
  1. Boil the chopped kamote in a pot and then season with bagoong alamang when kamote is nearly cooked.  
  2. Add the eggplant and saluyot leaves to thicken the sauce.  
  3. Add the katuray flowers, malunggay leaves and ampalaya leaves.  
  4. Add some shelfish or halaan for added flavor.  
  5. Once the soup boils, serve dish immediately.

Modern dinengdeng
 
Ingredients:
 
  • Lime soda  
  • Shrimps  
  • Alucon flowers  
  • Tomatoes  
  • Mushrooms  
  • Katuray flowers  
  • Sweet potatoes  
  • Eggplant  
  • Upo  
  • Patani beans or lima beans
Procedure:
 
  1. Boil the shrimps in soda until shrimps turn pink. Remove the shrimps from the pot and set aside.  
  2. Add all the vegetables, except the katuray flowers and malunggay leaves, to the soda that remains in the pot.  
  3. After a few minutes, add the cooked shrimps.  
  4. Season with bagoong alamang according to taste.  
  5. Add the katuray flowers and malunggay leaves, then serve.
