Cinemalaya 2013 Best Actress Irma Adlawan joins the cast of “Titser”

Fresh from her success at the 9th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, New Breed Category Best Actress Irma Adlawan of “Transit” joins the cast of GMA News TV’s new original series “Titser” as the corrupt Principal May of the fictional San Simeon High School.
“Titser” tells the story of a poor girl who dreams of becoming a teacher, but whose only option is to work as a househelp after graduating from high school. Lovi Poe plays the lead character Michelle, and is joined by Mara Lopez, who plays her best friend Rosa. Agot Isidro also plays Michelle’s mentor and inspiration, Teacher Sandra.
With her shady deals and corrupt practices compromising the public school’s already small budget, Adlawan’s Principal May earns the ire of everyone in San Simeon High School, particularly Isidro’s character Teacher Sandra.
“Kung sa ordinaryong teleserye, ako ang kontrabida. Pero sa totoong buhay, nakakasama ng loob itong character ko kasi alam natin kung gaano kahirap sa mga public school. Pagkatapos, may ganito pa sa sistema,” Adlawan says about her character.
When asked why she took the project, she explains, “Ito yung mga subject matter na kailangan binibigyang pansin dahil ito ‘yung talagang kumukurap sa sistema. [Pero ang maganda rin dito sa “Titser,”] ipinapakita din na, somehow, in the midst of all the bad things, there is something good and somehow kahit anong sabihin ninyo, kahit gaano kahirap, it will prevail.”
“Titser” premieres on August 11, Sunday, 7:15 PM on GMA News TV. The 10-part series will run until October 13.
