Filipinos in Qatar pay tribute to OFWs through music video

Filipinos in Qatar have launched a music video to honor overseas Filipino workers and inspire them to continue helping their countrymen.

The video released on Friday showed Filipinos wearing traditional clothing while others were in their work uniforms as they sang “Pilipino Ka,” a song made by Dexter Tumang.

According to Cirio Caras of the Philippine Professional Organizations in Qatar, the music video was created to inspire and motivate Filipinos wherever they may be to continue helping their countrymen.

“Main goal really was to inspire, give motivation, and to be an example to all Filipinos,” Caras said.

“Sa kabila ng challenges sa buhay natin, itong pandemic, and other challenges that have come, patuloy po tayong maging isa bilang mga Pilipino, iisa po ’yung dugo na dumadaloy sa ating mga katawan bilang mga Pilipino,” said Ressie Fos, president of Bayanihan ng mga Manggagawa sa Konstruksyon sa Qatar– Federation of Free Workers.

The project, which is also known as “Pilipino Ka: Gabay at Lingkod ng Mundo,” was initiated by several Filipino organizations in Qatar and supported by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). – Kaela Malig, with reports from Paul Jaysent Fos/RC, GMA News
