Canadian Embassy expresses sympathy after car attack at Filipino festival
The Canadian Embassy in Manila on Monday expressed sympathy to the families of the victims who passed away after a driver plowed into a crowd at the Lapu-Lapu Festival in Vancouver, Canada.
“We are devastated and heartbroken by the terrible tragedy during the Lapu-Lapu Festival in Vancouver,” the embassy said.
“We offer our deepest condolences to the loved ones of those killed and injured and we join the Filipino-Canadian community in their time of grief,” it added.
On Saturday, a driver plowed into a crowd during the Lapu-Lapu Festival in Vancouver and killed at least 11 people.
Canadian prosecutors have charged a 30-year-old Vancouver resident with murder for the deaths as well as for injuring dozens following the incident.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver has clarified that it has not created any fundraising efforts nor has sanctioned any entities to raise funds on behalf of the victims. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
