Pinoy students in Saudi Arabia take UPCAT


Some 175 high school students of Philippine schools in Saudi Arabia took the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh on September 30. The embassy on Wednesday said the examinees were from 12 Philippine schools implementing the Philippine curriculum in Saudi Arabia:

  • Al Danah International School
  • Al Taj International School
  • Elite International School
  • Fawaq International School
  • Future Generation Philippine International School
  • International Philippine School in Riyadh
  • Millennium International School
  • Palm Crest International School
  • Riyadh International School
  • Second Philippine International School
  • International Philippine School in Al-Khobar
  • Al Andalus International School According to the UP website, the UPCAT consists of four subtests:
  • Language Proficiency,
  • Science,
  • Mathematics,and
  • Reading Comprehension. UP Office of Admissions Professor Francisco de los Reyes administered the examination with the help of the Philippine Embassy. In the next two months, the embassy will host college entrance exams for the University of Santo Tomas, Mapua Institute of Technology, and De La Salle University. The Philippine Embassy is located inside the Diplomatic Quarter in Riyadh. According to the Embassy's website, its consular jurisdiction covers 6 regions:
  • Riyadh Region
  • Eastern Region
  • Qassim Region
  • Hail Region
  • Northern Border Region
  • Al-Jouf Region The other seven regions in Saudi Arabia are under the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah. The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh also has jurisdiction over the Republic of Yemen, and the Ambassador is accredited as non-resident Ambassador. - VVP, GMA News
