Ballet company represents PHL in China art fest
Young Filipino dancers from the Halili-Cruz Ballet Company represented the Philippines in the 12th Asia Arts Festival held in Chongqing last October 10 to 14. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the Filipino dancers joined artists and dancers from China and Southeast Asia during the gala opening of the event at the Chongqing People's Grand Hall on October 10. The audience during the gala opening included Chinese national and municipal officials, Culture Ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, cultural community, and media. "Their repertoire includes Dalagang Filipina, Clone, Maglalatik, Danse Espagnole, Valse Classique and Allegreto. They were warmly applauded during these performances," the DFA said. The Philippine group performed with the dance groups from Brunei and Myanmar at the Guanyinqiaon Square in Jiangbei District on October 11 as well as at the Changshou Stadium in Changshou County on October 12. The Halili-Cruz Ballet Company has received various national and international awards, including the Grand Prize in the Asia Pacific Dance Competition in Thailand. - VVP, GMA News
