Manila to join Sister Cities Week in Bangkok Feb. 9-12

Manila City will join 17 other cities in celebrating the Bangkok Sister Cities Week 2012 from February 9 to 12, the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok said.   “Urban Rehabilitation & Renew” is the theme of the event to be held at Benjasiri Park (Phrom Phong BTS Sky Train Station, the embassy said in an announcement on its website. The Sister Cities Week 2012 is open to the public from 5 to 9 p.m. on February 9 and 10, and from 3 to 9 p.m. on February 11 and 12. The highlights of the four-day event include gardening under the theme of Urban Green by Sister Cities, PR booths by Sister Cities, and Embassy PR booths for domestic food, products and souvenirs.   Those expected to join the event are cities that helped Bangkok during its flood crisis last year.   “The Sister Cities Week aims to promote cooperation, exchange of views and experiences on city’s rehabilitation and to strengthen closer relationship between Bangkok people and its sister cities,” the embassy said. - VVP, GMA News
