PHL execs woo young Canadians with puto, mango candies


With mango candies and puto as their main attraction, Philippine officials in Canada wooed young students into visiting the Philippines. The Consulate General officials operated the Philippine booth at the Asian Studies Day 2012 event at Langara College last February 9. "The purpose of the event is for Langara students to be aware of the tourist attractions and educational opportunities in Asia, and to experience and enjoy various cultures from the continent," the Department of Foreign Affairs said. Personnel manning the Philippine booth featured displays of themes related to Philippine culture and tourism. Also, the Philippine booth offered small samplers of mango candies and puto (rice cake) from the Philippines. Adise from the Philippines, other Asia-Pacific consulates general participating in the event included those from China, Japan, Pakistan, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. — LBG, GMA News
