DOLE: Over 200 other job fairs scheduled after Labor Day

Jobseekers who could not make it to this year’s job fairs on Labor Day need not worry, as the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has scheduled over 200 other job fairs this month until the third quarter of the year. The DOLE on Monday said some 360,000 jobs are available at government-backed job fairs on Labor Day, May 1, and more than a few may be filled on the spot with applicants.

Despite government efforts to generate domestic jobs, most of the openings are still overseas. The DOLE said it knows of at least 360,777 job vacancies offered by 1,706 employers across the country's 16 regions.
 
Of these, 74,352 vacancies are offered by 1,085 local employers, while the rest are overseas vacancies. 
  In a news release on Monday, DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said the job fairs after Labor Day will be conducted in cooperation with local government units, schools, the DOLE’s tripartite partners, Public Employment Service Officers, and the private sector.   Since January, the DOLE has announced the dates and venues of its job fairs to let job seekers plan their job search.
