Bangladeshi carpenter faces trial over gang rape of Pinay in UAE

A Bangladeshi carpenter faced a United Arab Emirates (UAE) court on Thursday for allegedly taking part in the kidnapping and gang-raping of a Filipina in November 2010.

According to a report of Khaleej Times on Friday, the 26-year-old Bangladeshi was charged with kidnapping, rape, robbery, and impersonating a public officer.

Court records showed that the carpenter and his companions posed as policemen and forced the victim into a car before taking her to a hotel. The Filipina said she was slapped several times, undressed, before the men took turns in raping and molesting her.

After the rape, the men then dropped the Filipina, 33, at a bus stop and gave her Dh50 after stealing her wallet, watch, earrings, and Dh200.

The Filipina said she wrote down the car’s registration number and reported the incident to the police.

The report said the defendant confessed that he was contacted by the two others and told about a girl who would have sex with them.

They rented a hotel apartment where the three had sex with the Filipina but claimed that it was with her consent. - VVP, GMA News
