MiG Ayesa's mom on her rockstar son: He's a flatterer

He does not fit the common perception about rude and aloof rockstars as Filipino-Australian Broadway star MiG Ayesa is known to be kind-hearted and polite. Dr. Carmen Legarda-Nelson described her son MiG as "a kind of ‘flatterer." In a report of the news site The Filipino Australian earlier this month, Legarda-Nelson said, “MiG was and still is good natured, always smiling, never said a crossed word, always polite and said the right words at the right time.” MiG first gained international attention in 2005 when he joined the CBS television reality series “Rockstar INXS” where he finished third. Although he didn’t win the competition, he landed a record deal with Universal Music Group and he and his wife -- dancer and actress Simone De La Rue -- then moved to the United States. Rock of Ages concert in Manila According to his website, MiG plays the lead role of Stacee Jaxx in the musical “Rock of Ages,” which runs from June 15 to July 8 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati City. Filipino stars Nyoy Volante and Vina Morales will be among those performing during the "Rock of Ages" concert, directed by Chari Arespacochaga. The official website of the famous Orpheum-Memphis theater in the United States said "Rock of Ages: is a worldwide party musical that features 1980’s rock songs such as “Don’t Stop Believin’”, We Built This City,” and "The Final Countdown” to name a few. The five-time Tony Awards-nominated musical features a love story, set in 1987 at California's Sunset Strip, between a small town girl with a big city rocker. Legarda-Nelson said she will be flying to the Philippines to watch MiG's show.   Music and sports MiG's mom recalled that in her son's younger years, he indulged in both sports and music. Aside from playing the piano, he played sports like basketball and soccer. She told The Filipino Australian: “He was a well rounded kid. He played sports, more basketball than soccer. However, he seemed to spend more time on his music." She said MiG was always involved in school musicals and when he turned 17, he turned professional by acting "in a film something like ‘Mission Impossible’ type filmed in Denmark. They flew to Denmark, then to Spain.”   “His profession is at times hard, very demanding, it is like putting on the costume despite how he feels and sock it to them; whether he feels dying or not. He does a lot of charity work; he is a very generous person,” she said in the report.   An international star "I attribute my success to three elements: hard work, passion, and a little bit of luck,” MiG said in his biography on his website.
