'Ang Babae sa Septic Tank' well-received in Czech Republic
The Philippine film “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank” was well-received at the recent 47th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Tuesday.
Citing a report from the Philippine Embassy in Prague said the film, the DFA said the Philippines' entry to the festival, was well-applauded by the Czech audience that included Czech First Lady Livia Klausova. "Ang Babae sa Septic Tank," which starred actress Eugene Domingo, was shown on two dates — June 30 and July 4, the DFA said in a news release.
Domingo flew all the way from Manila to participate in the festival. She visited the Embassy Chancery on July 3.
"The film is an independent comedy, which poked fun on stereotypical third world heart-wrenching dramas that exploit suffering. The film was directed by Marlon Rivera," the DFA said.
Philippine Ambassador to the Czech Republic Evelyn Garcia attended the July 4 screening along with Acting Administrative and Cultural Officer Ramon Gaspar.
The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, which started in 1946, is one of the oldest film festivals. It premieres about 180 new selected movies from all over the world. - VVP, GMA News
