Fil-Pakistani Miss World bet wows Chinese crowd with beatboxing talent
Quenerich Rehman, the Philippine representative in Miss World 2012, wowed the Chinese crowd as she performed beatboxing during the competition's talent portion. Beatboxing is a form of "vocal percussion," producing the sounds like drum beats using only one's mouth. Rehman, a 23-year old psychology graduate, kept her piece as a surprise with the hosts introducing her act as a mystery, the news site Huffington Post reported. Rehman opened her performance with a rendition of “Rockateer” by the Far East Movement, and left the crowd stunned when she started beatboxing. The crowd went wild when the 5’9” Assumption College graduate mashed up the tunes of “Rock Your Body” by Justin Timberlake, Usher’s “Yeah” and even the infamous “Teach Me How to Dougie.” The host said that Rehman’s performance was an “original act,” which he has yet to see in pageants. The Pasay City-based beauty queen bested 24 other beauties when she won the Miss Philippine-World crown last June. She is currently in China to compete at the Miss World 2012 Pageant on August 18. According to Rehman’s Miss World profile, her interests includes classic, ballad and hip hop music. Apart from being an expert in beat boxing, she is also an accomplished basketball player in high school and college. - VVP, GMA News
