DFA: Undocumented Pinoys may avail of Italy govt's amnesty program

Undocumented overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Italy have the chance to become regular documented workers if they will avail of the host government's amnesty program. In a news release, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the implementing rules for the Sanatoria are expected to come out by the end of the month.
The DFA said employers' applications for the regularization of their undocumented workers will be accepted from September 15 to October 15.
The embassy emphasized the importance of being forthright in declaring one's status. It also reminded Filipinos to ask for advice and assistance only from proper authorities.

The DFA said the embassy "hosted 70 Filipino community leaders and members and invited resource persons and experts in immigration law, lawyers Valentina Chianello, Andrea De Rossi, and Paolo Rinaldi, and Annaliza Bueno to explain Italy's Legislative Decree No. 109/2012, which came into effect on August 9, 2012,"  during the Sanatoria 2012.
