Spouse of wealthy Pinay murdered in UAE still 'not at peace'

Until they get custody of the remains of his spouse, the husband of the wealthy Filipina murdered in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) said their family will never be at peace.  In a report of the news site Gulf News, Pablo Varona, husband of Filipina businesswoman Lorna, said, “As long as we haven’t laid her to rest yet, I will never be at peace.”
Lorna, 51, was found murdered inside the trunk of her car in Sharjah on August 31. The police have in custody a Filipino — a family friend of the Varonas, who allegedly confessed to the crime.
An earlier report of the news site Emirates 24/7, the suspect, Ricardo Bechavez, who is in his 50’s, allegedly borrowed Dh 250,000 (roughly Php 2,850,000) from Lorna.

He was reported to have been scheduled to meet with Lorna on August 26 to return borrowed sum.

On September 2, police investigators informed Lorna's husband Pablo that Bechavez, arrested the day before, admitted committing the crime. No chance to grieve properly

Meanwhile, on Gulf News, Pablo said the family hardly had a chance to grieve Lorna's death after almost two weeks.

“Every night, my children and I would pray together for her the repose of her soul. But we haven’t really had the chance to mourn or to grieve as we don’t have her body yet on top of the paperworks and other requirements that we have to work on,” he said.
The Gulf News report said UAE authorities had said it could take 10 to 14 days before they could bring her home.

Once Lorna's body is released, her family plans to ship the remains to the Philippines for about a week-long wake at Holy Trinity Memorial Chapel in Paranaque City.

But until the body is released, Pablo said "everything at this moment is hanging."

Meanwhile, the couple's daughters Maria Lourdes and Maria Liza are managing the four businesses that Lorna owned and managed before she was killed — Seaworld Tourism, Capricorn Trading, Capricorn Documentation, and Pro Team. - VVP, GMA News
