Salesman gets 15 years in jail for raping Pinay at party in UAE

An Indian salesman was sentenced to 15 years in jail on Sunday for raping a Filipina at the United Arab Emirates, according to a Gulf News report.

 

The unidentified 47-year-old salesman, who claimed that the “intercourse was consensual,” was found guilty by the Dubai Court of First Instance for sexually assaulting the drunk 30-year-old victim at a party in his Jumeriah villa. 

 

“When I got drunk around midnight, I sat on a couch to rest… in the morning I found myself in the bed and (the defendant) slept beside me. When I asked him about (my friend) he claimed that she left,” the Gulf News quoted the victim. “He punched me twice because I refused to respond to his sexual advances.”

 

Upon arrest, the assailant told Emirati police that the victim was a prostitute, but the Filipina and her friend testified that they were invited to the salesman’s party.

 

“He claimed he scuffled with (the victim) but never mentioned why,” the Gulf News quoted the victim’s friend, also a Filipina, who saw the defendant’s injured arms. “I walked behind him to the bedroom and saw my friend unconscious. She was naked on the bed and had blood and injuries on her body.”

 

After waking up, the victim confided to her friend that she was raped by the party’s host.

 

Prosecutors sought the death penalty for the defendant, who will be deported after serving his sentence in Arab prison. –RNB/KG, GMA News
