Six rescued Pinay maids brought to welfare home in Malaysia

The six Filipinas who were among 105 maids rescued in Malaysia last Saturday were brought to a welfare home in the Damansara area. In a report of the news site The Star, Selangor Immigration director Amran Ahmad said the maids arrived at the welfare home aboard two buses and immigration personnel assisted them in gathering their belongings. Ahmad said the maids will stay in the welfare home while an investigation is being conducted about their cases. Representatives of the consulates of the maids, who come from different countries, are expected to go to the welfare home to know more details about their cases. Ahmad said the maids will be sent back to their respective countries once the department’s probe was completed. Last Saturday, Malaysian authorities rescued 105 maids, including six Filipinas, following a raid on a maid agency in Port Klang. The authorities also arrested at least a Filipina, who was a suspected "supervisor" of the rescued women. "All the women - 95 Indonesians, six Filipinos and four Cambodians - had only social visit passes and are believed to have entered the country in the last one to six months," Amran said in the report. - VVP, GMA News
