Pinoy 'human beatbox machine' to hold PHL tour in March
Filipino-Australian Genesis Cerezo, dubbed the “human beatbox machine,” will be holding a promotional tour from March 5 to 11 this year. In a news release, touring company MAS Presents said the DMC beatbox champion is looking forward to coming home to the Philippines. “It has been eight years since I left the Philippines. I am so excited to go back home and see what has changed,” Cerezo said. “I want to entertain Filipinos and I want to connect with a lot of people. I cannot wait to get there,” he added. According to the news site The Filipino Australian, Cerezo moved with his family to Australia eight years ago for a chance at a better life for his mother and sibling. Australia's Got Talent in July 2012, Cerezo was announced as one of the grand finalists of the singing reality competition "Australia's Got Talent." He is the first and only grand finalist who showcased beatboxing as a talent. He was joined in the finals by Fil-Aussie hiphop dance group Kookies N Kream with six others. The title went to singer-songwriter Andrew De Silva who won $250,000. His performances on the show were uploaded to YouTube and have garnered international popularity. His finals performance has reached over 450,000 hits. Before the show, Cerezo was working two jobs as a cafe barista and as a sales clerk in a retail shop. - VVP, GMA News
