Indian who raped Pinay released after promising to marry victim
An Indian who was jailed for raping a Filipina gained his liberty from jail on Monday after he promised he will marry his victim, a news site reported late on Tuesday.
The report on Gulf News said the Filipina also made an "emotional appeal" for the release of Gyan Prakash, who runs a gas pump business in East Champaran in Bihar, India.
In her appeal, she said she wants to marry him but the marriage is not possible "till he is released from jail.”
Also, she asked the police to lift the rape case registered with Bodh Gaya police station.
Prakash had been detained at the Gaya central jail since January, the Gulf News report said.
He has assured the Filipina he will marry her upon his release.
However, the Gulf News report said the wedding may have to take place before the Filipina's visa expires.
The investigation showed the victim befriended the Indian via Facebook.
Earlier this year, she accused Prakash of inviting her to Bihar and then raping her at a hotel in Bodh Gaya.
She added that after she reached Patna on December 29, the accused had brought her to Bodh Gaya on a private taxi. - VVP, GMA News
