Pinay in UAE consensual sex case defies judge's suggestion to marry co-accused

A Filipina facing charges of consensual sex in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) surprised a judge when she rejected his suggestion to marry her co-accused in exchange for a suspended prison sentence.

The Filipina and her co-accused, a Pakistani worker, had pleaded guilty to consensual sex before the Dubai Misdemeanor Court, Gulf News reported on Wednesday.

While the Pakistani said he was willing to marry the Filipina if his religion allows it, the Filipina said she was not, the report said.

The Pakistani is Muslim while the Filipina is Christian.

The Gulf News report added that the Filipina replied "in an apparently defiant manner."

The judge has adjourned the case and is expected to hand out a judgment later this month. - VVP, GMA News
