3 missing POEA personnel in typhoon-hit Tacloban alive and well
Three Tacloban City-based employees of the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency who were reported missing after Typhoon Yolanda ravaged the Visayas last week turned out to be "alive and well," POEA head Hans Leo Cacdac said Friday.
Cacdac, in posts on his Twitter account, voiced relief over reports that Jose Unat, Vangie Ferrer, and POEA-Tacloban head Rose Jervoso were unharmed.
"We received a report that POEA colleague Jose Unat from Bgy. Diit, Tacloban is alive and well! So that makes three out of three! Thank you, Lord!" he tweeted Friday night.
Earlier in the day, Cacdac said he received a report that Jervoso was alive and well in MacArthur, Leyte.
Last Wednesday, Cacdac said he managed to talk to Ferrer, who he said was fine. He added Ferrer had secured her children with a relative in Samar.
The official death toll from Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), which struck the Visayas last week, further increased Friday afternoon to 3,621, based on latest government reports.
Aside from the fatalities, 12,165 people suffered injuries due to Yolanda, while 1,140 others remained missing as of Friday afternoon. — KBK, GMA News
