Saudi reporter teary-eyed after seeing Pinay ex-nanny on TV

JEDDAH – For Saudi journalist Rawan Radwan, seeing her former Filipino nanny on TV was a very emotional moment.

“She is one of the most memorable persons in our life, she was very good to us,” said Radwan after seeing  Marie Ning in a report on GMA News TV's State of the Nation with Jessica Soho on Monday night.

“We were kids at that times though but she planted a seed of kindness in our heart,” she added in an exclusive interview with GMA News.

Ning, who is now based in Candelaria town in Quezon province, left Radwan's family in 1992 after working for them for five years.

According to Radwan, a freelance journalist, she started looking for Ning, whom she called “Dada,” after reading an old letter from her.

The letter was for Radwan's mother and was handed to Radwan by her sister upon her arrival in Jeddah from Hungary where she stayed for a couple of years.

Radwan said she started looking for Ning on the Internet through various social networking sites to no avail.

Still determined to locate the woman who took care of her when she was young, Radwan then contacted the local government of Quezon, where she got in touch with a staff named Eva Palma.

It was Palma who pitched the story to Manila Bulletin, which published a story this month that led to Ning learning of her former ward's efforts to locate her.

According to Radwan, she has plans of coming to the Philippines someday to personally see Ning.

“Dada we missed you, we love you and I hope you are good and happy. I hope you finally found the love of your life and the life that you always wanted, I wish you more blessings and I hope to see you soon,” Radwan said.

Ning, in a report on "24 Oras" on Monday, said she is excited to see Radwan. —KBK, GMA News
