Pinay girl group booted out of ‘X Factor Australia’
All-Filipina group Trill was ousted from 'X Factor Australia' during the show's first live show, reports said.
Sports and entertainment site Rippa.com reported that the Danii Minogue-backed group bowed down to Natalie Bassingthwaighte-mentored Adrien Nookadu after their rendition of JoJo's "Leave (Get Out)" lost to the latter's version of "If I Was Your Man" by Bruno Mars.
According to the International Business Times' recap, Trill's performance of Rita Ora's "I Will Never Let You Down" was praised for its enthusiasm, but were told that their vocals and timing needed work.
For the three members of Trill, "X Factor Australia" was a fun learning experience for them.
"We've had the most amazing time being on the show and have had so much fun and learnt so much. Working with Danii has been incredible and we're so excited for Australia to see what we will do next," they said in a report on Yahoo TV.
Fellow Filipino Marlisa Punzalan received a better reception despite receiving a song which Minogue thought was too old for someone as young as the 14-year-old.
Trill impressed judges in their audition with their rendition of Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass." Aged 14 and 15 years, Jessica, Angel, and Sheralyn cited the girl group TLC as their inspiration in dress and style.
Before their auditions, they said they wanted their skills, not age, to define how judges would evaluate their performance. —Rie Takumi/KBK, GMA News
