Pinay teen makes it to X Factor Australia’s Top 5
Filipina singer Marlisa Punzalan has been named one of X-Factor Australia's top contenders in its final five stage, entertainment site Zeibiz reported Monday.
Punzalan, who performed Dami Im's "Super Love" to remain in the running, was praised for nailing all the high notes in the song and for "taking risks" in her performances.
"I'm still amazed that someone that is 14 years old can sing like that and every week you do something great and you take risks. I think it's just phenomenal," Zeibiz quoted judge Redfoo of the musical duo LMFAO as saying in a different write-up.
In an interview with Yahoo Australia, Marlisa said fans liked her for her humility.
Reading online comments, she said, "inspired" and motivated her to become more confident in her performances.
The 14-year-old singer is the only Filipino performer who made it to the finals.
Girl group Trill, composed of Filipina teenagers, was eliminated in X-Factor Australia's first live show.
